I saw the classic movie “Pyscho” the other night by Alfred Hitchcock! I really LOVED it! I plan to see other movies by him as time goes by, like North by Northwest.
Yeah, that’s all that I really had to say
Everyone’s favorite person - only backwards
Austen, your Uncle Rick has a HUGE collection of Hitchcock movies. He’s a big fan.
Psycho is one of A. Hitchcock’s most popular, along with The Birds. But not his best. North by Northwest is one of my favorites. Also 39 Steps (older), and Strangers on A Train. In his films he uses a device he calls a “McGuffin”. It is part of the story line that the viewer thinks is the guts of the movie. Then later it turns out to be so small, it has nothing to do with the plot.
As you know, he always makes a cameo. Somewhere in the background you will see him walking a dog, or entering a bus as an extra. The most creative was in Lifeboat. The movie is set in a lifeboat after a ship was hit by a torpedo. There are about 9 characters and the whole film is shot in the boat. Now how was he going to make his appearance? Rowing in a boat in the background? When the film was being shot, Hitchcock lost 40-50 pounds. So one scene in the middle of the movie begins with the captain reading a newspaper. The viewer only sees the back page of the newspaper. There is an advertisement for a weight loss product. With a “before” and “after” photo of a man. Very clever.
