Popcorn

2 minutes ago, I was sitting at my computer. I had just gotten back from a food festival (really a food-dominant street fair) on 9th Avenue. I was full when I had gotten home half an hour before, but then I decided to try some of the popcorn that we had bought there from “Kettle Corn NYC.” Obviously, it was delicious, which is what has led me to write this post.

The reason why we bought it was because recently, our special treat popcorn place called Dale and Thomas had closed, and we (meaning me and my Mom, my Dad doesn’t like popcorn) had been craving it for a month.

Anyway… it’s soooooooooo good. Why don’t movie theaters just carry this popcorn? They would make millions of dollars more than they already do. Both the Dale and Thomas and Kettle Corn NYC “sweet and salty” flavors are delicious. SOOO good. Not like “oh, that was a good movie” good, but like “OMG that movie was AMAZING” good. You know, really good.

That’s all that I have to say. Just that I looove good sweet and salty popcorn. Like really LOVE it.

Was there anything else at the 9th Ave Festival that you liked? I enjoyed the food I had even if it wasn’t in the spectacular category. I had jambalaya from Delta Grill, lamb on a skewer from Nicks and carrot cake from Mitchel London.

Sorry to hear that the popcorn place near you on Broadway has closed. We always looked forward to going there when we were in town, along with Fishes Eddie, which your mom tells me is also closed. What’s going on?

I buy Grandpa’s white popcorn off the Web from Jolly Time of Sioux City. Grandma Max

paperpest: I had an unspectacular (although not bad either) pulled pork sandwich from Spanky’s BBQ:

Then, about 3 cups of lemonade from those stands, and a cookie from Amy’s (that was deeelicious) And then of course, the popcorn.

Grandma: I know! It’s really sad. They’re also destroying the old horse stable across the street from us… but I’ll be fine as long as Big Nick’s doesn’t leave. :-P

Well now. We just returned from a trip to Ohio, where we played “Percy T. Presby” before some 175 people at a Founders Day Church banquet. On a layover in Chicago, I purchased some carmel corn from a vendor in the airport. DEEELICIOUS! It sustained us all afternoon–and through the next layover.
Even though I dig the popcorn vendors in NYC, the Very Very Very BEST POPCORN IN ALL THE WORLD comes from where??????? IOWA——–of course.
Specifically—Sioux City, Iowa—50 miles from my home town of Marcus. Farmers in the area bring their popcorn fresh to the JOLLY TIME popcorn plant in Sioux City for processing and sale. They don’t jazz it up with cheese and/or carmel or other stuff.
It’s just plain ole popcorn ( small white or large yellow) but cooked with oil and salt–it becomes a gourmet meal. I eat the small white kernals with chocolate bits and milk.
    Try it! Go to Jolly

Nothing in this world beats it!
