The New York City marathon is today, and it’s always a cool day to live in New York, because they’re running in our backyard (or the ciy equivalent of it; central park.) Gothamist has a post about the death of a runner during the Olympic trials (completely different races) yesterday. Ironically, the winner of the trials was a close friend of Ryan Shay, whose death is still unclear.
On a happier note, there was a marathon “kick-off” last night in Central Park (I believe that it’s a 2 mile run to “warm up” for the next day) and there were fireworks! I got some good pictures of the fireworks behind a water tower in my Flickr photostream.
