Jelly is a “twice-a-month work-together, and you’re invited!” Basically, it started out with a two roommates missing the community of an office. So they started inviting friends over to “bounce ideas off of each other.”
Anyway, Aaron’s dad’s former student went to Jelly, and somehow or another a certain 15-year-old and 14-year-old ended up going. Hey… they said anyone is invited. That includes high school freshmen!
It actually wasn’t very awkward or anything, it was cool. We mostly Aaron talked to them about stuff… you know, geek stuff. And we just sort of hung out with the laptops and at end played some Wii… which was totally and utterly awesome. (I’ll get to that later) Anyway, a bunch of the people there have some pretty cool stuff online…
First, there’s Amit’s Photojojo which is a newsletter/RSS feed focused on digital photography tips and tricks… but apparently very, very good. Then, there’s Luke’s Joyent which is a web-based application provider that’s all about team collaboration. (Like Google Docs, etc. but more focused on collaboration for businesses.) Finally, there’s Anthony’s Hype Machine which aggregates all of the biggest music blogs and compiles a radio station of sorts from the MP3s linked to on the blogs. What you get is a “radio that’s truly powered by the Internet.”
We didn’t get a chance to talk to everyone that was there, but as you can tell from the above links, it was pretty cool. A post dedicated to how awesome the Wii is should coming soon.
