Harry Potter 7

Oh my god. Wow. JK Rowling killed, like, everybody. Let’s see…

  • Hedwig - killed in dogfight at beginning
  • Mad Eye - killed in dogfight at beginning
  • Dobby - killed saving Harry, Ron, and Hermione’s life
  • Pettigrew - - killed by his silver hand (?)
  • Fred - killed in the final battle
  • Lupin - killed in the final battle
  • Tonks - killed in the final battle
  • Snape - killed by Voldemort
  • Harry - killed by Voldemort, but then comes back to life
  • Voldemort - killed by Harry/Voldemort (the curse rebounded, didn’t it?)

Wow, that’s 10 majorish characters! Still, the ending was awesome. Snape giving Harry his memories and him going into the pensive was awesome. It explained almost everything about Snape. And I knew it! I knew that Snape was good, that he killed Dumbledore under Dumbledore’s orders!

I also knew that Harry was a horcrux! I said it! I was right! Yeah! The only thing that I got wrong was Ron dying. He didn’t die. None of the trio did. Which I guess is good, if it weren’t for the fact that everyone else died. I mean, who’s left. There’s Hagrid, and… Professor McGonagoll, and um… that’s about it as far as other main characters go.

At first I was completely confused by the epilogue. Why was Harry’s mom (Lily) saying goodbye to Harry like he was a father? Then I realized that Harry and Ginny named their children after Harry’s parents, Dumbledore and Snape. That must have been tough for Harry.

I know that a lot of people think it was a cheesy ending, but I liked it. It was the happy ending that, despite all of the talk about Harry possibly dying, we were all sort of hoping for. Harry and Ginny got together, Ron and Hermione got together, they both had kids, and they all lived happily ever after.

I’m so happy that Snape ended up good. I realy felt bad for him when we were seeing the chronicles of his interactions with Lily. That was definitely the best chapter of all of the Harry Potter books. It explained so many mysteries and resolved the biggest storylines.

Finally, Harry didn’t kill Voldemort! It looks like the curse just rebounded. Sure, the prophecy never said that it was Harry that had to kill Voldemort, but come on! All Harry really did was tell Voldemort what Dumbledore had found out, and then Voldemort killed himself.
