If I do say so myself, I think that my new desktop looks very cool. The dock is hidden on the right and the windows taskbar comes from running Parallels. Which is awwwesome. Just in case you didn’t know that.

Well, I’ve thought of a name for the spy movie that I made with Vance and Lulu. Mission Improbable: The Evil Spy. And here’s the poster that I made for it because I was bored. Obviously, a take-off of Mission Impossible. “Improbable” because you probably don’t expect little kids to be spies and save the world. I think the poster turned out pretty well.
I just uploaded photos to Flickr from our trip to Florida next week. There are only a few, much less than I should have taken - so few that I think I completely left out a few people from my photos. (An accident, I swear!)
The New York City marathon is today, and it’s always a cool day to live in New York, because they’re running in our backyard (or the ciy equivalent of it; central park.) Gothamist has a post about the death of a runner during the Olympic trials (completely different races) yesterday. Ironically, the winner of the trials was a close friend of Ryan Shay, whose death is still unclear.
On a happier note, there was a marathon “kick-off” last night in Central Park (I believe that it’s a 2 mile run to “warm up” for the next day) and there were fireworks! I got some good pictures of the fireworks behind a water tower in my Flickr photostream.
From the NY local news blog Gothamist:
Reader Austen took some photographs of an injured man being lifted from an Upper West Side construction site. A firefighter and the injured man, who is strapped on a board, is being hoisted by a crane to the ground level. The site is at Amsterdam and West 77th, where the Dakota stables once stood but where, after a fight with preservationists, condos will soon rise.
It’s unclear what caused the man’s injury, but the Department of Buildings has been trying to improve construction site safety by reaching out to workers (here’s the DOB’s construction safety site).

Yep, that’s my photo! I sent the photos in to Gothamist earlier this afternoon. We’ve had a front row seat to the demolition of the Dakota Stables, and now to this serious event that’s also a teensy bit cool just because of how creative the firemen were.
Apparently the guy broke his leg. But it seems like he may have broken some other stuff too, seeing as they had to lift him out with a crane. More pics here.
The most recent Joy of Tech comic is hilarious!
I’m baaaack! Did ya miss me? Our week-long trip to Maine ended with a 7 hour car ride yesterday! And now I’m back to enjoy the last 36 hours of summer! Besides dreading that though, we had a great time and I took a bunch of photos. Now don’t start complaining that there are too many! I edited it down from over 200 to just 86!

About 50 photos from my (sorta) solo trip upstate this past weekend have now been uploaded to my flickr account!
The end of this vacation makes 4 vacations total this summer! Next up, Maine!
I have a modest 30 photos from my trip this weekend to Florida. Yes, my - not ours. Anyway, they’re all uploaded to my Flickr account here. Then of course there’s the slideshow. My Uncle Bob (pictured top right and to the left) also wrote a blog post about my trip.
This is the first time I’ve really used the features of iPhoto, and I’ve found that it’s a great program, although a little bit slow. It’s ability to quickly ajust photos is very helpful when tweaking my pictures before uploading them. Although, there was one thing I missed: I couldn’t automatically make new albums from imports.
So when I imported my entire Flickr collection, I had to manually make the albums. And guess what? Literally 24 hours later, iLife ‘08 comes out with support for “Events.” Perfect. But I’m not paying $80 for a simple update to iLife. I’ll get it in October with Leopard when it comes out.
Yay! We’re back! The best thing about having a vacation at the beginning of the summer is that you’re not dreading the end. Sure, you don’t want to leave but at least you don’t have the return to school looming over your head like what happens every year when we go to Maine. But now, there’s an entire summer to look forward to!
Anyway, back to Colorado. We had a great time. I have 58 photos (edited down from over 100) that are tagged and described, including one awesome Panorama avaiable on Flickr. Enjoy all of them!

Also, a side note: I saw 5 movies over the course of the trip. It’s surprising, but there wasn’t much else to do when up at the Inn besides reading and hiking. They also had a great collection of movies. Anyway, I saw: Breach, Eragon, Ice Age 2, Die Another Day, and Ocean’s 12. Breach was good, Eragon made me want to gag, Ice Age 2 was great, Die Another Day was typical Bond, and Ocean’s 12 was okay.
I’ve been working on a bunch of different photoshop pictures recently, both at school and at home so I thought that I’d just take this post to showcase some of my best photoshopped pictures. Note that only the picture with Warren and the train picture’s originals were taken by me.
At left is the Empire State Building - only much, much taller. I extended the building up really high (and also the image this one is twice as high as the original). And yes, that’s King Kong flinging around an airplane on top (tell me that doesn’t look awesome.) I did a couple more pictures like this, which you can see after the jump.
Next is an image that I really wanted for people to just say “Wow” to. Below is the original:
We just got back from our trip upstate to see Elo, Andrew, Vance, and Lulu. I’ve edited down over 100 pictures to less than 40. You can see all of the photos here. Among the activites documented are biking, hiking, and fixing flat tires.
I seriously have never had allergies before, but this weekend they hit me like crazy. That’s why I look like a zombie in this picture, I was about to sneeze.
