Here’s your Office fix…

With less than 3 weeks left until The Office premieres with an hour-long episode, the empty hole that is NBC Thursday night is getting even bigger. If you, like me just can’t wait, here are 3 hilarious videos to keep you entertained…

First is an official Office promo that tells us a bit about how Season 4 is going to start out with some great answers to “What did you do over the summer?”

10 reasons to get a Mac – and if they’re true

Now that I have a Mac, I’ve decided to go back and see if the things I always read about them were actually true… so here’s my custom 10 popular reasons to get a Mac (loosely taken from here) and if I’ve found them to be true or not.

  1. It just works – So true! Compared to Windows, it’s just so much easier to use and so much faster.
  2. No hunting for drivers – Everything that I’ve plugged in works just fine, if not 10 times better than they did on my old PC.
  3. You can make amazing things – iLife. Is. Awesome. I love iPhoto. I don’t need the advanced features of Aperture, and iMovie (the old version) is great for putting together movies – or at least until I save up enough money for Final Cut.
  4. Beautiful designs – That’s one thing no one, no one can deny. Macs are definitely the best-looking computers that I’ve ever seen.
  5. You can run Windows – I haven’t tried this out, mostly because I already have a PC, but there’s no doubt that it’s true and that it works like a charm especially with Parallels.
  6. No viruses – I haven’t encountered any, but there’s no doubt that there are some out there. Let’s just hope that when hackers start targeting Macs that OS X is as advanced as Apple says it is.
  7. They’re now the same price as PCs – Not exactly. You can get PCs really cheap now, but there’s no doubt that the premium you pay for a Mac is made up for with absolutely awesome software and much better resale value.
  8. OS X is the best OS – Well, price-wise Ubuntu is because the ratio of 0 to $120 is a big one. But if you are gonna pay, OS X is by far the best-looking and functional OS. Not to mention weekly security updates that don’t usually require you to restart your computer
  9. A whole new world of software – OK, these last few are mine. But when you get a Mac you’re introduced to a whole new worl of software: All of Apple’s stuff of course, but also things like Twitterific, Adium, Camino, etc.
  10. Did I say that it just works? – Well, it does.

School should be illegal

Yep, these next 3 hours are going to be the best 3 hours that I’ll have for a long, long time. Because, in 3 hours at 12:00 noon I will be entering school for the first time in 2 months. Yes, it’s tragic and sad and dumb and depressing and stupid and boring and dumb.

But, now that I have a Mac it’s like I’ve unlocked a vault full of wonderful programs, one of them being Schoolhouse (thanks Greg for telling me) which is kind of like iTunes, but instead of managing music you’re managing homework. I figured, it’s harder to say “no” to something saying smack in your face: “DUE TOMMOROW” than it is to push it into the back of my mind.

Their tagline should be: “Who said homework couldn’t be pretty?” And it’s actually pretty cool because after you do you assignments you can also tell it what grade you got, and it can calculate your grade, and it can trace it over the course of the semester. Again, it’s harder to say “Oh, I’m doing fine” to a graph saying “No you’re not.”

Maine 2007 (pics)

I’m baaaack! Did ya miss me? Our week-long trip to Maine ended with a 7 hour car ride yesterday! And now I’m back to enjoy the last 36 hours of summer! Besides dreading that though, we had a great time and I took a bunch of photos. Now don’t start complaining that there are too many! I edited it down from over 200 to just 86!
