The iPhone

The iPhone was released announced yesterday almost two weeks ago by Apple, and it looks looked P-R-E-T-T-Y coooool. That’s all I’ll say except that I want one (when it comes out in June – on Cingular *groan* – we have verizon) even though it’s like $500 *double groan* Ok, I know it’s not going to happen.

Yes, I also know that this post is WAAAAAAAY late, but  I did a draft, but I never posted it, so here it is now.

OpenArena – a free and fun game

Openarena_logo.gifOpenArena is a free, open source, 3D, first person shooter based on the Quake 3 engine (but you don’t need Quake 3 to play the game.) And it’s very cool.

Yes, it’s a mindless video game – but I don’t care, it’s still fun. It’s easy to download from the website (Only 72 MB) and to play on Windows, Mac, and Linux.

The basic thing is that you go around shooting people and garygoles with all sorts of different guns. It’s not THAT violent, there’s not too much else there besides just shooting people and capturing a flag one map, but it’s still a great way to let out stress after a long day at school.

About system requirements, they’re like 256 MB or RAM I think, and it works well on my computer as long as the resolution is below 800×600 – and the graphics are great (for what it is) by the way.

Donald Trump Vs. Rosie O’Donnell

The whole thing is pretty stupid, I mean it was just a joke – she was making fun of him, then he calls her a slob, etc.

Preview of tonight’s Office

Yahoo has a hilarious clip from tonight’s Office. This clip is actually a great representation of the show as a whole, so if you like the clip, you’ll love the show. Also, it’s only better the second time you watch it.

The episode that this clip is from airs tonight (January 4th) on NBC at 8:30.

Gmail bug allows bad (and good if it matters) people to see your contacts

Like your Gmail account? Consider it a sacred place which must be protected from spammers at all cost? Yeah, us too. Well, we hate to break the bad news at the dawn of the new year but there’s a weakness in Gmail which exposes your email address to any web site capable of exploiting the bug. As reported on Digg, the exploit takes advantage of the fact that Google puts your details into a JS file. As a result, if you’re logged into Gmail and browsing the web, any rogue website can declare the function “google” and then parse all your contacts. The only way to safeguard yourself is to disable Javascript in your browser (or enabled it for trusted sites only) or simply climb into a hole and not browse while logged into Google services like Gmail, Blogger, Orkut, Reader, Calendar, etc. — you know, the sites you typically have open all day long. For obvious reasons, we will not link directly to the site which demonstrates the exploit on your personal account due to the risk of running possibly malicious code. However, we tested it and found our most precious account — and those of our contacts — correctly identified and ready for harvest. But hey, even though Gmail has been out since 2004, it is still “beta”… right?

(This is me now) Pretty scary. They then go on to link to this “non-malicious link

If you’re using Gmail, and you’re logged in and Javascript is enabled, you SHOULD see all your contacts. Even more scary.

[Thanks Greg for telling me]

UPDATE: It’s fixed now.
