Google buys YouTube - Gootube?

Rumors have been flying around over the last couple of days that Google was in talks about buying YouTube. And earlier today the rumor was that the announcement could come TODAY! Well, now it has and me and others are wondering - now what? Will Google intergrate it with their little “set-up”? Will they discontinue Google Video, replace it with YouTube, combine the two, or WHAT? Only time will tell, but I think that this is a good move for Google, because now YouTube could become even BETTER.

Here’s the New York Times article.

Going upstate

We’re leaving to go upstate for Lulu’s birthday party. We’re  staying overnight and we’ll be back sometime tommorow afternoon, expect pictures soon. Sorry for the short post, but I’ve gotta go…

more More…

Well, not really - but it’s much more accessible now. I have now blended in a “More bar” into the sidebar to link to RSS Feeds, Contact, Archives, Links, and Old Photos page. Using hotspots (I think that they’re called that) there can be multiple links on each image. (Okay - I didn’t do it myself, I used this program - but I still understand the concept of the coordinates - I just don’t want to take school home with me)

Anywho… I think the icons look pretty cool, and now there’s also a countdown (by day) thingy for when my birthday will be over all of the more stuff. And finally, the rotating text at the top of the page, using

tags in html - and a random function. Hey - I needed SOMETHING to fill up that space with.

Search Mash

Searchmash is apparantely a test by Gooooooogle to try out different searching features. Google is falling behind in the market - search-engine wise they don’t have the features of say, Ask Jeeves and Windows Live. Windows Live used to have automatic loading as you scrolled down through the results, but I guess that they took it down because it went waaaay to slow. Google Searchmash now has your next ten results be added in a flash when you press “more webpages.” Lightning fast, really.

The whole idea of Searchmash is pretty cool - a place for the computer geeks to use the cool new features of searching without having to annoy the normal guys. I look forward to some of their new features (which I didn’t even START to get into mentioning.)

ChaCha!!!

The image “http://static.flickr.com/83/260548445_5f1c999922_m.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.Chacha is a brand new search engine that is more than a search engine - you chat with experts about the topic, called guides, and they do all the work for you!!! Awesome! It’s free, and guides get paid starting at $5 an hour, though right now you can only become a guide through private invatation. Still, check it out!

Everything’s back with a new look

Wohoo! I finally - no, Aaron finally helped get the logo back up with some special coding stuff, so now it’s back! I redid the logo in photoshop, gave the menu-bar thing some shinyness, as well as the the actual text. It looks more Web 2.0ish now. Below are the new and old side by side…

And finally, just one I did using Photoshops “blizzard” effect, the special one to use on Christmas…

You’ve also probably noticed the flickr photo badge and pandora badge things are back on the sidebar.

Warren, Alex, and Elo’s Birthday 2006

Sorry the photos came a little bit late, but here they are! They’re not very good, not nearly as good as Maine or anything else because it’s all flash since it was too dark. Still, if you were there, here they are.
