High Schools!

Okay, here’s the deal:

They sent out the specialized high school notes saying if people got in or not yesterday, so everyone was freaking out at school today because we’re all getting it this afternoon. I DID take the test, though I do NOT plan to go to any of the specialized high schools. BUT, if you don’t get into a specialized high school, you don’t find out the normal school stuff for another MONTH AND A HALF. Unfair, yes I know!

BUT, it turns out I DID get a letter, saying I WAS accepted into Bronx Science AND Beacon (the non-specialized school I want to go to)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So YAY! I get to go to Beacon which is all filmmaking and technology-like, AND I have the bragging rights of getting into Bronx Science!!!

Only ONE nomination???? Come on!

So they announced the nominations for the academy awards the other day. Alright, we all know that there have been some pretty good movies in 2005 visual effects-wise. Star Wars Episode 3, King Kong, Narnia (referring mostly to blockbusters here) War of the Worlds, Batman Begins, and a few others. Now, they’re all great movies, but being a star wars fan, I thought episode 3 was probably the best.

I admit, king kong seemed to have better effects with the giant ape, but it could at least be nominated!!! I mean come on! Star Wars was nominated for ONE award: MAKEUP. Yeah, it was great, but I mean really! I thought maybe the academy would give some leeway for the last star wars movie like they did for lord of the rings 3 (ahem, didn’t it get nominated and then also win 9 awards???) but NOOOOOO everyone hates star wars and they give it one lousy award that they probably won’t win anyway.
So brokeback mountain gets nominated for 9 awards. Not that there’s anything wrong with a movie like that, but it’s just a lot taken away from star wars and other good movies!

Star Wars Episode III Parody

I saw this when it aired on tv for the mtv movie awards last summer. It’s a hilarious short little spoof, and guess what? It’s on youtube!

Embeded videos!

After hours of hard work, lots of different strings of code, and other stuff, I have finally gotten videos to embed into wordpresses posts!

The video below is one that I made using the game “The Movies” (see previous posts) called “War’s Apology”. It’s the first real one that I made, and doesn’t really have much of a point or any dialogue. It’s just some action stuff. I admit that the graphics are of course not mine, neither are the movements of the people. Well, you can choose stuff like the fog, the set, the intensity of getting shot, what angel the shot is at, costumes, locations, but it’s not all mine. I just wrote and directed it. All of the music is from the supplied tracks, which are great for game music.

If you can see it, please comment and tell me. If not, please tell me what the problem is. I tried it on both mine and my mom’s computer and they both worked, but I need to know!

Movie Review: Serenity - 5/5

Okay, here’s some background info: During the 2001/2 season of tv (I think) a tv show aired called firefly aired created by Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayor, a very popular show. It was a bit of a flop. Critics didn’t like it and it didn’t get too many viewers, but there was still a lot of fans who just LOOOVED it. So after 24 episodes it was over. It was basically about a group of traveling people in 500 years who kinda fly around and are cool and funny and do some illegal stuff you know transporting stuff. It’s funny, action packed, special effects, but only a few, it was great. So when it flopped the fans and the creator Whedon got Universal to sponsor the movie. It came out in September-October 2005, around the time I was introduced to it for my birthday through the firefly series on dvd. The movie was called serenity, the name of the main character’s ship. I missed it in theaters and have been waiting for my turn on line for the dvd forever from netflix and I’ve finally gotten it!!!! So, to the movie:

The movie is great. It’s not a huge blockbuster movie, but not a little documentary. It’s just a really enjoyable and fun movie to watch. It makes you say “eewww” in some parts and “cool” in others, and laugh at others. The jokes are in the right places and each character has a place. You know, like a group and they each have characteristics and when they say things it’s just great. One example is when they’re robbing a vault and the security guard who’s supposed to keep it safe gave up. He and Mal (captain of ship) are talking while the others get the money:

Mal: “The leg is good. It has lots of bleeding and you’ll avoid damaging any unnesacary organs.”
Guard: “I was thinking of something more like a graze…”
Mal: “Nah, you don’t want them to think you gave up to easily…”
Guard: “I know that, but…”

It’s just great. There’s also some scary stuff in there and some drama, and action scenes that are just great. I highly reccommend that people see this. Especially families (kids 10 and up) because it’s lots of fun.

Changes

I’m sure that you’ve noticed the down time over the past few days, the error pages instead of the website. Sorry about that but there have been some problems trying to get a new template. The first one which I showed screenshot of in an earlier post had something wrong with it, so I had to find a new one, and I have. It’s called k2 and you’re probably looking at it now. This is just the bare framework for what I want to do like put a background on top add and change things, etc.

You may also notice the absence of “about me” and 2 new pages: “dummie” and “Photos” I am (again) redoing the photo section. In “pictures” you can find the old version, and in “Photos” you can find the FLICKR POWERED version. I have 100 photos from france up and 35 from maine all from my new flickr account. Go check them out. You can view it in slideshows, too!

And finally, you may notice some test posts with strings of code. I’m trying to figure out how to embed videos into this thing from youtube.com which is like flickr but for videos. Absolutely free, max upload size limit is 100MB and max number of videos in infinity! YEAH!!! And it’s free! Once I figure that out if you have a recent operating system you can view some videos in the blog posts and inside the site. So that’s all in the future. Stay tuned.
