I saw the 1978 Superman movie the other night, and I have to say that I really liked it. The visual effects were good, althought the story was kinda weird and slow during the beginning.
Anyway, I just saw the Superman Returns trailer for the movie that comes out this June and it looks cool in all………. only it looks like it’s a remake of the original 1978 version. Now, I don’t know why but the story description is a completely different storyline while all the shots in the trailer I can pinpoint what it’s based off of the original 1978 version. Anyone know what’s going on here? Also, the quote for the trailer about being raised on a different planet and helping earth and all…… it’s copied exactly word for word from the original 1978 version! The music, which is great (john williams, genius) is from the original. I mean, I think it makes sense to remake something like king kong with it’s outdated effects, but superman? It’s 1978, and visual effects looked fine and they still look fine. I don’t think it’s time to do a remake yet. But is it a remake? Or do they just recap it in a few minutes at the begining???? WHAT’S GOING ON??? I mean, anyway I would enjoy seeing a remake, but I still think it would be pretty pointless and better if it IS sequel which it should be.
You can see the trailer here.
