The Movies

I got this games for Christmas. It’s an AWESOME game. It’s kind of like The Sims 2, except more focused on making movies and stuff than relationships.

In The Sims 2 you actually build the houses to the inch put in furniture, everything else. You make the people and they look pretty good even close up. You have lots of options in how they relate to each other, etc. In the movies, yes they do react and form relationships, but the real goal of the game is to be a successful movie studio.

The graphics aren’t as good as the sims 2 graphics, but they are viewable. Basically you get to build your studio lot, starting in 1920. I would say that each month is about 5 minutes, so each year about an hour, which is a pretty good speed. As time goes by you can choose technologys to focus on, wannabes come to your door to act and direct in movies. You get access to more sets to use, you get to make scripts, direct films, do everything, really. You can build trailers for your stars and bars and restraunts and put trees and stuff. There are also janitors and crew members and builders who maintain your studio lots and sets.

When you start out, scripts come in from the outside. Then you can hire scriptwriters to focus on specific genres of scripts. Then, finally - you can make your own script. You choose a set, you can choose props and thell the actors what to do with it. It’s hard to explain, but it’s amazing. So you do the script and they shoot it where you can kind of direct by say changing the actors reaction to a gun to scared instead of angry, it’s awesome because in the end it’s YOU’RE movie. It’s kind of a 2-part game. A sims game and a game to make your own movies in 3D.

Then you can go into post production and edit them, add music, sound effects, cut scenes, add your own voice overs, anything you want! And as time goes by different genres of movies go in and out. Like during the world wars horror films are a out. During the great depression action films are out, and comedy is in. And when a man walks on the moon sci-fi is in! And your actors and directors get in bad news and you can raise or lower their salary, there are so many options.

Also, they do a cute little thing where every once in a while a radio announcer comes on. Like in 1926 he said “I was talking to my friend Ralph today and he said that someday movies will be able to show things like people flying! Ha! What NONSENSE!” It’s a bit too obvious but it’s funny.

So a great game that’s addictive, and if you play in “sandbox mode” you can have unlimited money to just kind of make your own movies. In fact, it’s very adictive. Gotta go play it now, actually.

Flock

Flock is new web browser based on the Mozilla code that makes firefox so completely awesome. Except it does more, a lot more. You can post onto a blog (like i’m doing right now) by just pressing a button in flock and you choose which blog you want, tags, categories, you can drag pics in, do everything, without even visiting the main site!

Flock also has the same great tabbing functions as firefox along with and very simple but advanced bookmarks manager. You can also quickly subscribe to the feed of a website by just pressing a button. And that’s it! You can also get your flickr images and it’s SOOO cool! If you’ve been using firefox, this is almost exactly the same. It just adds a lot of web 2.0 type of stuff. It’s only in the 0.5 beta stage, and they recommend that you don’t use it as your normal browser, but it’s so awesome, why not?

So you should all get it now at Flock.com

Try it out! The site is a bit not so good, but it’s still great!

Thanks Aaron for telling me ALL about it.

New template soon

Sorry about the recent inactivity, but I’ve been trying to get a new template up with aaron. It’s not working too well, but in the next few days you’ll probably see it. One of the few themes I’m thinking of using is the theme below, but there are others I might use.]

Dumbledore is NOT dead!

J.K. Rowling promised readers before the 6th Harry Potter book came out last June that a major character would die. And a major characer DID die. And it caught everybody by surprise! Well - ALMOST everybody (THANKS ALOT AARON!) didn’t know beforehand. But still, it was SOOO sad that Dumbledore died because he was the best character and he was funny and stuff, but anyway I found this site recently:

Dumbledoreisnotdead.com

And it has some REALLY good points that I had never thought of! Really, you should read it. It has a great analyzation of the text and many, many examples. And while reading it, I can’t help thinking… maybe he isn’t really dead. Or, if he is, maybe the guy who killed him who was supposed to be good (Snape) was actually good and just doing it under Dumbledore’s orders who purposfully let himself die for the cause of killing You-Know-Who. (And if you don’t know who, then his name is “Voldemort” and he’s totally evil.)

Movie Review: The Terminal - 4/5

“The Terminal” is a film by Steven Spielberg about a man who comes from a small European country to New York City, and while he is in the air his country gets into some kind of war and the United States does not recognize his country. So he is stuck in an airport until his country is recognized again.

The movie has no special effects and stars Tom Hanks. It’s funny, loving, a bit emotional, and just a very heart-warming movie. The airport is very realistic and he ends up falling in love, meeting some friends, meeting some enemies, learning some English, and much more. He has to live in an airport for a month - I mean, it’s a very interesting movie, but at times can be a little bit depressing.

The soundtrack is by John Williams, a genius who also did star wars and many other of spielberg’s films. It’s a very nice and cute little soundtrack of a kind of discovery and wonder with gentle quick strings.

Star Wars Main Theme (John Williams)
Star Wars Imperial March (Darth Vader’s Theme) (John Williams)

However, it didn’t work on:

Christmas 3 Weeks Late

Well, Christmas 3 weeks late was fun! Not only was it a great get-together, but it was like Christmas all over again! I had gotten presents for the actual christmas, of course, but I got a lot more than expected! Here’s the add-on list:

Adobe Premiere from Kevin and Irvey
Adobe Premiere Tutorial Book from Kevin and Irvey
Headlight from Kevin and Irvey
Batman Begins DVD from Elo and Andrew
USB 2.0 Hub from Elo and Andrew
Mad Magazine Subscription from Elo and Andrew
$25 Gift Card to Circuit City from Alex

It’s all VEEERY awesome!

So anyway, it was lots of fun with vance and lulu and presents and videos from alex and warren’s trip to Asia and then it was over and we went home and Adobe Premiere is SOOOO awesome! So is the usb 2.0 hub and I can’t wait to spend the gift card!

The iPod Micro - Much better than the Nano!

I was thinking how Apple keeps on coming out with new things all the time, new ipods, imacs, etc. So I made this fake ad. It’s basically just supposed to be the next generation Nano. But much smaller. A bit exaggerated.

Also, tommorow we’re going to celebrate Christmas!!! Yippee! 3 weeks late! Only because Alex and Warren were in Asia over Christmas and we haven’t gotten around to it till now. So we’re all going up to Elo, Andrew, Vance, and Lulu’s White Plains Apartment to celebrate. And yes, the iPod (at least mine) is coming along with the video camera.
