Netsua in Short

Netsua.com is the personal website of one such special person who goes by the name of Austen Squarepants. Austen Squarepants has no relation to Spongebob Squarepants, he just likes the name so he uses it when on the internet.

Anyway… Netsua.com is THE place to find out information about Austen, watch his movies, read his blog posts, marvel at his pictures, read his movie reviews and visit his other (not nearly as good) websites.

Austen’s blog is of course the heart of the website, it’s the most up-to-date place around. Don’t worry - if Austen dies, you can find it on his blog. If Austen is bored, you can find it on his blog. If Austen has more money than you, you can find it on his blog.

The rest of the site is basically an archive of Austen’s talents: Technology, photography, filmmaking, and more.

So take a look around. Read his movie reviews on his blog, watch his movies, read his about page, and wonder why he always refers to himself in the third person. Is it because he’s ego-centric? Maybe. Or perhaps he is just so smart that he has to refer to himself in the third person to protect himself from his own brain. Or maybe he’s just ego-centric.

A Short Biography of Austen

Austen Squarepants is the sole creator of this site, Netsua.com. He lives in New York City with his parents, Deri Weed and Ira Squarepants. Mr. Austen Squarepants is a very large fan of movies, both new and old. He enjoys watching classic films like Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho” and Orson Well’s “Touch of Evil”, but also enjoys newer films like Martin Scorcese’s “The Departed” and Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man.” In fact, he is also quite a filmmaker himself, if he says so himself. He enjoys making fictional movies of action and adventure, in addition to documentaries of trips he and his family take. Mr. Squarepants is also a photographer. You can view some of Mr. Squarepant’s work by clicking on “Pictures” or “Movies” above. You can also view some of his writing and examples of websites that he has made.

Austen Squarepants was born at 5:51 AM on October 24th, 1992 to parents Deri Weed and Ira Squarepants in a New York City hospital that he is to lazy to look up. He had green eyes and blond hair (like anybody cares.) Austen now lives in an apartment on the Upper West Side in Manhattan, and has lived there with his parents since he was 3 months old.

He went to P.S. 166 for Pre-K and then went to P.S. 87, which is near his house, from Kindergarten through 5th grade. He then went to the Delta program at M.S. 54 for three years. He graduated from 8th grade in the spring of 2006, and is now a Sophomore at The Beacon High School.

The History of Netsua

The term “Netsua” was originally thought of during Austen’s… younger years, as you can probably tell. He was probably about 5 or 6 years old, and he had discovered the world of “Alias names” or, in other words, names spelled backwards. He though something along the lines of: “Let’s see… my name is A-U-S-T-E-N, so then backwards it would be… N-E-T-S-U-A. Hey - that sounds like a website! NETsua!” Austen had always wanted to have a website, inspired by a site called Nick.com that, at the time of him thinking up Netsua had a lot of media and games. Austen wanted to have a site like Nick.com - full of media and fun and funnies, so he created Netsua…

The original “Netsua” was founded in early 2004 by Austen on Freeserver’s webpage creator, and can still be found today at Netsua.4t.com. But he was disatisfied with Freeservers because it only allowed a certain amount of pages, and there were ads that just got even bigger and more annoying as time went by.

So in late 2004 it was migrated to the Freewebs webpage creator which allowed Austen much more options in using his pictures, and it had no ads (unless the account is inactive for numerous months.) It also still stands today. At about this time, Austen created a seperate blog on the blogging platform Blogger. But still, he longed for a more complete website for Netsua, something with more expression.

That wish was fullfilled early 2005 when Austen bought the “Freewebs Premium” offer that enabled him much more control over what he did. Then he actually designed the HTML of the site himself, and built it from scratch. But the excrutiating pain of updating each page individually took much of Austen’s precious time. While his time with this website, Austen also recieved the domain name “Netsua.com” as a birthday present. (See more on the debate below under “Fake Netsuas”)

Then, over the summer of 2005, Austen and his sad excuse for a friend Aaron decided to start a podcast called The Teen Tech Buzz. Shortly after starting the podcast, they created a full-blown website for their podcast using the WordPress blogging (and pages to, so basically a blog-webiste builder combination) platform. WordPress wasn’t a simple “fill-in the blanks” way to make websites, but it wasn’t a “HTML update each page individually platform” either. Austen was fascinated with this, and started re-creating his site on this platform. He directed the domain name to this “New Netsua.” In addition, he migrated his blog, finally combining two parts of the web that were meant to be together from the beginning.

But… he was still not happy!!! (OK, maybe he was. But then he found a better version of the theme he was using that had 3 columns, so naturally, he just HAD to get it.) In the March of 2007, Austen got rid of his old theme for wordpress, called K2, and instead got the take-off of it, called TripleK2. TripleK2 has 3 columns instead of 2, giving Austen much more sidebar room, and room to post.

Today, Austen is finally satisfied with the site that you know and love today. He is happy that he has a simple, yet not slavery-requesting way of making and updating the site, and he is happy to say that he is happy with the new site and it’s layout, which makes him especially happy. He happily says that he is finally happy that his two websites are finally combined as one, making one happy family. And he’s especially happy the that happy guys on the internet have the happiness in their hearts to made the K2 theme have 3 columns, so that he can have a better and happier site. Austen’s reaction this this? Let’s just say that’s he’s happy.

A personal letter from Austen:

Dear World,
It is hard for me to say this, but I believe that there is a Faker, if not numerous fakers among us as I speak. A few months ago, a site popped up online, emailed to me by one of my numerous accomplices. Apparently this site can be found at the domain name Freewebs.com/Netwua. The owner of this site claims to be the “Real Netsua”. Please be aware that anything this unknown adversary says you cannot trust. He has infringed my copyright by using this site’s known and beloved logo on his webpage, and copied many pictures taken by me, of me, and of my dearest friends and family, and he has hopefully broken many laws in doing this. Please be aware that the information found on this site cannot be trusted, especially personal things like one’s choice of hamburger and french fries. That aside, I have been fighting a desperate struggle against this very powerful foe who codenames himself “R.Y.A.N.” Please, I am asking for your support in this war of Netsuas… whose side are you on? Surely you cannot believe somebody like this “R.Y.A.N.” who has a site made on Freewebs, not even “/netsua” but “/netwua.” This person is a fake, and they are not the real Netsua. More sites are popping up daily claiming to be the “Real Netsuas.” For instance, there is Freewebs.com/Netbua who I believe is run by some one codenamed S.O.L.O.N. or perhaps M.A.R.L.O.N. Other sources tell me that this could be H.E.N.R.Y. though. Only time will tell. I will keep you updated as more events unfold.

Thank you for your support,
Austen Squarepants

UPDATE:

The Fake Netsua has now worked his/her website up to the 3rd result on Google when you search for “Netsua”!!! Luckily, the first two are my site, but this cannot be stood for! I am asking for all of you to please: Search for “Netsua” in Google and click, click, CLICK on the REAL Netsua!!! Make sure they don’t make it any further! Don’t let them win this battle!

Thank You

Although I’d like to think that I made this website all by myself from scratch, it’s not true. I’ve had the help from friends, family, and my twisted creative mind, just to mention just a few.

First and foremost I would like to thank myself for being such a genius, and my creative mind for thinking of the name, and making this such a great site.

Second of all I would like to thank Aaron Frankfurter for telling me about Wordpress, and for helping me with some major technical difficulties of the site over the years year.

Thirdly, I would like to thank my family for… well, reading my blog posts and actually caring. Yeah, that’s it. Thanks for reading guys.

Fourth, I would like to thank the creators of the Wordpress blogging platform for giving me the power to make this website what it is today.

And fifth I would like to thank the creators of K2, the completely awesome template that I use for this website which makes it look so good!

And sixth I would like to thank John TP for making the 3-column K2 Theme which is what I NOW use for my website.

Finally, I would like to thank myself for being such a genius, and my creative mind for thinking of a name, and making this such a great site.

And double-finally, I would like to thank the Germans (I think) for inventing Gummy Bears.

If you feel like you should be mentioned here, but you’re not, then just drop me a line.
